James Hook & Co is an absolute gem. The seafood is incredibly fresh and flavorful. Their lobster rolls are good, though the lobster is quite shredded. Mayo and butter options are available, with the butter option being more expensive. You can also buy whole lobsters, even live ones, which adds to the authentic experience. I went in around 5 pm. on Tuesday, and the place was almost empty. I ordered a clam chowder soup and a traditional lobster roll with a coleslaw. The roll comes with fries, but the coleslaw substation was free. The flavor of the lobster roll was the same as the coleslaw. The basic light mayo sauce, and the roll was cold. They also have butter options, and I believe that it is served warm, so pick your flavor. The lobster roll was on the blend side. However, you can add salt, pepper, and hot sauce to your liking. They also serve cold beers on tap. The clam chowder was perfect! It was better than the clam chowder bread ball from the SF Wharf.

Yea, that’s an amazing lobster roll. A local recommended this place to me. So on my last day in Boston I visited. Brace yourself. It is not cheap — $36 for the roll and fries. But that’s a good value compared to most places because it is huge, and they pile it high with a ton of meat. I got it buttered and hot. I imagine it’s good cold too.

When I came to Boston, I was on a mission to find a real authentic lobster roll—a hot one, as I don’t care for the cold variety. Saltie Girl delivered one of the best I’ve ever had. The lobster roll was served hot, filled with fresh, large pieces of lobster, and they certainly didn’t skimp on the portions. It was pure joy to eat and an overall wonderful experience. The restaurant has a classy vibe that’s also comfortably casual, so you don’t need to dress up to enjoy it. The food is phenomenal, especially the seafood. I showed up at peak dinner time as a solo diner. Wanted a seat on the patio but jam packed. The hostess was AMAZING! Made sure she found me a spot that I would love indoors. She walked me thru the restaurant and found me a spot at the end of the bar that looked out over the neighborhood. She went above and beyond to make sure I was happy. Then the bartender was informative. I asked for a pairing and it was spot on. I didn’t have a long wait for my cocktail and dinner.

Outstanding all around. Enjoyed dinner here while visiting from St. Louis.
First, I’d like to mention the service. Our server, Rodrigo D, was fantastic. He was friendly and attentive. He encouraged us to order the biscuit and, my gosh, he did not lead us astray!
The food was wonderful. We shared oysters, the whitefish pate, the New England clam chowder, the crab cake, and the aforementioned biscuit with honey and rosemary butter while everything was great, the chowder was our favorite.
Wish I could go back and relive the experience all over again.

I was very disappointed with the level of staffing and food quality control in your restaurant.
I ordered 2 lobster rolls through Uber Eats. I wanted to eat warm food, so even though I added the express delivery option. But the foods were delivered very cold.
