Great sandwiches, friendly servers, and a cool environment! Delicious sandwiches, we loved them all! Especially the Pastrami & Corned Beef Combo! The lemonade was really good too! If you’re looking for the perfect lunch to satiate your ravenous appetite while following the Freedom Trail, look no further! These sandwiches are warm, juicy, and filling in a way that only the Northeast seems to be able to accomplish. The store front is underwhelming, and the prices are, admittedly, overwhelming (especially for a sandwich), but don’t be dissuaded – you won’t regret it! We’re still dreaming about these sandwiches… 🤤As an added bonus, the staff were over-the-top friendly, with one staffer even going out of his way to help an elderly patron figure out her ride share plans.Logistical consideration: True to form of a lunch/sandwich spot, this restaurant closes early. Be sure to get in before 2PM!

I really don’t know what to say besides it’s amazing. And all my years of traveling, Billy’s Sub Shop is probably the best I’ve ever had. We were in town for a convention and were simply looking for a quick bite when we stopped and everyone in our group of four were flabbergasted by the quality of the food. Not only that, but there was a steady stream of customers but they kept up with all the orders and it didn’t seem like anyone waited more than just a few minutes. I can’t stress enough just how delicious my steak and onion sandwich was. It was absolutely fantastic and next time I’m in Boston, Billy’s will be the first stop I make.

While the atmosphere is nothing to write home about, the food was incredible. The three people behind the counter were very friendly and were patient with me as I was taking pictures and asking lots of questions about South Boston. The steak and cheese with salami and mushrooms was easily one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever eaten. I will definitely be back here every time I’m in Boston. Great service from both our waiters, feels homey inside and the food was excellent. We’ll be coming back tomorrow morning before we leave.I had the steak & eggs with hash browns which were great. If I were to improve it, I’d make the meat a little bit more tender, it was slightly chewy. I’d use better quality eggs that have got a nice golden/orange yolk- but that’s just personal preference. My partner had the French toast banana bread which was 10/10. Wouldn’t change anything about that. Really good.I rarely leave food reviews but the service was great so I feel I had to!

I adore this place! It’s the perfect spot to grab a bite and kickstart your day. Initially, I hesitated due to some reviews mentioning unfriendly staff, but I’m glad I overlooked them. The team here is incredibly friendly and professional. Now, let’s talk about the food—those sandwiches are out of this world! The Fancy is my top pick, and the Breakfast Grilled Crack is also fantastic. Don’t miss out on their delicious juices too. It’s worth noting that the place is quite small, with only 3 or 4 stools for seating, so most people opt for takeout. Count me in for a return visit! Plus, they accept credit cards for added convenience.
