Really cool atmosphere. It’s supposedly the longest running restaurant in the United states that is still open. Got some scallops. They were cooked very well. It’s expensive but you’re paying for the experience and the atmosphere.Make sure to visit the loft if it isn’t too busy. The stairway for it can be found on the second floor. A must go to restaurant if you’re visiting Boston. They have a great selection of fresh oysters! Not only that, they marked their favorites, in case you have trouble choosing which ones to try. They have daily special menus, which were pretty good and arguably a good deal for the price. I didn’t try their lobster roll because was I full, but my brother, who used to live in Boston, said they have one of the best lobster roll in the city. I would recommend this place for their oyster but not so much for their clam chowder since it was too watery for my taste.I visited the restaurant twice during my trip, and I noticed that the service varies depending on who’s your sever. The first day, I had a great server who was attentive. She explained their menu and how to fully enjoy the oysters. It was a great experience and the reason why I returned the next day. Whereas the second day, I had a server who barely explained anything or checked on me. By the end of my meal, she just handed me the check without asking if I wanted to order anything else.They don’t accept reservations, and they tend to have a long line. My suggestion is to go before peak lunch or dinner hours. I stopped by around 5 PM on a weekday on both occasions and was seated fairly quickly. However, the line was quite long by the time I left the restaurant.

My girlfriend and I came here after our Freedom Trail Group Tour since it ended in Little Italy. There was a line outside the restaurant and we ended up waiting around 30 minutes to be seated. There are only a small limited number of seats so be prepared to share table with another couple or group. We shared a table with another couple but we didn’t mind. You absolutely have to order and try the Neptune Johnny Cake. We didn’t know what to expect but it definitely exceeded our expectations!! The sweetness of the cake blended so well with the smoked fish. The clam chowder was thinner than what were used to but still had great flavor. The oysters absolutely rocked it and each had its own distinct brininess, flavor and texture. We wanted to try the crab claws, since we’ve never had it, and decided that we’d rather order more oysters next time than to get them again. Lastly, we had the cold lobster roll and it was awesome!! The amount of lobster and mayo was a great balance and the fries were crispy and seasoned well. Overall, I would recommend this Neptune Oyster to any travelers and foodies visiting Boston. Save yourself your time and money instead of going to tourist traps like Union Oyster House and come here!

I visited Saulty girl in July and it was a delightful experience overall. The staff were exceptionally friendly, making me feel welcome from the moment I walked in. If you’re looking for the best Lobster Roll in Boston, Saltie Girl may be where you will find it. We came here on a Thursday night after scoring a reservation for 9pm. We were seated on time but it took a while for our waiter to come back and place our order, a small issue worth mentioning but not deal breaking. We ordered the clam chowder, the heirloom tomato salad, the hot lobster roll and fish & chips. The clam chowder was fantastic, creamy and the additional of a few fried clams on top was a unique touch. The heirloom salad came next, creamy burrata and fresh heirlooms. A great combo. The star of the meal was the lobster roll and it was exceptional. For $46 I guess it has to be but it exceeded expectations. Drowned in butter and packed with lobster. The fish from the fish and chips was very nice, the batter held very well which made dipping into the tartar sauce easy. Which was nice, instead of the fish usually crumbling apart. I highly recommend this place and would definitely return again. Tip: make reservations and get the lobster roll!

Absolutely outstanding experience at Little Whale Oyster Bar! The oysters were incredibly fresh, and the clam chowder was some of the best I’ve ever had—rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. The hamachi crudo was equally amazing, with perfect texture and exquisite taste. We sat at the bar and were served by Bridgette and James, who were both fantastic and very friendly. Their excellent service added to the overall delightful experience. We will definitely be returning! Five stars!

This was a last minute random stop for me last week, while on a stroll on Newbury street. I had no idea what to expect, but came away very satisfied.I sat outside now that the seasonal sidewalk seating is open, and it felt great. Cannot opine on the atmosphere of the restaurant as I did not go in, but the food was delicious, with a decent menu to appease a variety of seafood fans and palates. I started with four Oysters, one each from Duxbury and Welfleet , MA, and two from Damariscotta, ME. They were amazing and the appetizer that followed, Broccolini with Anchovies was just so savory, with a salty edge which I happen to like. Plus it tasted very fresh and wholesome. The Flatbread with Clams and Arugula was very unique and different touch, and also very flavorful.The service was great and overall I could not have been more pleased to have a meal here. A great stop if you want a causal but quality seafood place on this street, albeit a bit on the pricey side.
