The food we was phenomenal. One of the best Japanese restaurants we had for sure. We had Wagyu Beef Tartare, 20 pieces sashimi, and the coconut sphere for dessert. We started out with a “sphere” in appetizer and ended up with a “sphere” in the desert. Everything was so tasty and “oishi” 😉. The coco sphere was out of this world and yumy (never had anything like that before), just right, not too sweet. Still wondering how they made it. The waiter was nice and fun but the 2 bus persons were a bit odd, in a hurry to take the plates from us. Their restroom door male and female label cracked me up and got me confused for a bit.

Food: Well portions and great flavor combinations. My favorite was the Japanese fried chicken, just enough crispiness and flavor where it was sweet tangy added with the spicy mayo sauce on the side was just perfect. Each of the sushi presented its own combination, where texture and flavor sat really nice. Oh though some weren’t quite my favorite palette, I can appreciate the thought behind trying to fuse something that’s more original. The yuzo lobster had a citrus taste to it which can’t throw off a bit of the lobster since it’s rather aquatic, but it’s interesting. The Hawaiian roll comes with a premium soy sauce, which you can’t tell the difference between regular, but it adds a perfect touch to what’s sweet and then add a pinch of saltService: We sat at the bar and the service was great, they all made sure we had water filled. This is a great Peruvian-Japanese fusion place with a really nice vibrant and energetic ambience. Small-well portion sizes and all the dishes we tried were very well done. Blue Ribbon Sushi has had a lot of hype since it opened. Naturally, it was on my bucket list, yet something always came up. But after so long, I finally got a chance to try it. And I was really impressed with the food, decor, and service. The Crispy Rice is delicious, and I love sushi places that serve you on a board. Great attention to detail. I did go during lunch, which is slower, so that gave me more personal time. Only thing is that I would knock it for is that this place is super expensive. Their sushi deluxe is almost $50, twice the price of most regular spots (they give you a credit for the roll you get with the pieces). Even the crispy rice is almost $30 for an app. But it is in a great location, and the space is beautiful—I feel it’s worth it every once in awhile to splurge or for a date. I hear dinner is always busy. Also, super clean bathrooms. So I’ll be back. Always good to have a consistent place.

Went with family of 4 for lunch, we all chose the Ebisu Business Lunch ($45/person). Selection of two appetizers were delicious, very fresh sashimi, especially the sea bass. Ribeye (cooked rare) was my favorite main course, there’s a $19 surcharge for the ribeye and black cod, so be aware. Delicious! The raw sashimi don is so fresh and tender. The salmon and mackerel were the best. Also got the torched Japanese scallops, yummmm. The Hokkaido don was also pretty good. And the miso soup was also super good! Usually restaurants make miso soup too salty but Tora made it just right! The food comes out super fast, the staff is very attentive but not rushing. And it’s got a nice vibe and does well with the smaller space it has. While exploring Chinatown in Boston, we wanted to find an authentic sushi place and even though sushi is Japanese, and we were in Chinatown, we found a great little place! Avana sushi was tucked into unassuming little food court, where three or four other businesses are packed in a small space. There is limited seating, but there is inside seating. There was a bit of a language barrier as the owners wasn’t great, but we got through it! Everything they made was from scratch, and it was amazing! We got there right as they opened and we were the first customers but as we sat there eating our food, the phone didn’t stop ringing and local customers poured in and out nonstop ordering lunch to go which for us as a telltale sign that this is a place that the locals love and that tells you everything you need to know! I would definitely recommend this if you’re looking for sushi in Boston! We will be back!

Came on a weekday night and it was packed, most of the tables are for 1-2 individuals with only a few for groups larger than 2. We came as a party of three, but they were very accommodating towards us.My favorite was the Chawanmushi and the Wagyu roll. The Chawanmushi was very light and soft, and the ikura gel layer added a great flavor that made it go down well. The Wagyu Roll was presented with a certificate of authenticity, and was soft and flavorful.Prices are a bit on the higher side, as expected with an establishment of this caliber. However I would definitely recommend trying this out for a special occasion.

Came on a Tuesday night so there was no wait for a table. Small little restaurant with a minimalistic wood aesthetic. Very pleasant to dine in.Food was delicious, very pricey for single pieces but the quality is so fresh. For apps we got the steamed egg and salmon cups. The egg was so soft and melt-in-your-mouth we forgot at one point and thought it was tofu. Salmon cups were self explanatory- fresh salmon pieces on a crispy cup. I would recommend both. We got an assortment of rolls, but most notable would be the botan ebi. Absolutely entranced with the freshness, but I may be biased as I’ve always loved botan shrimp. Honorable mentions: mango salmon, uni, and toro mushroom.Downside of this place, it is verryyy pricey for 1 roll, but understandably so. We got so many rolls and each one had such fresh ingredients. None of them tasted “fishy” or like it has been sitting in the freezer. I really enjoyed my dining experience here, but I’d highly recommend coming on a weekday to avoid long waits.

Really excited to try this spot after seeing it online. Such a unique concept for sushi and small bites. I went during early dinner time, which is my recommendation, since it can get busy later on I’ve been told. They don’t take recommendations. Also, no alcohol rn, but that’s okay—I’d rather save money for buying food. I tried about 5-6 rolls in total which filled me up and had great presentation. I would have loved it had they all come out at once, but that just shows the freshness. Sitting by myself in front of the chefs gave me an interactive show and great service as well. The decor itself is very minimalist, but I have a feeling they’ll add more in time. They have a cool wall behind the chefs. I’ll be back. Great for a date, casual dining, or solo eating like I did
